I would like to wish you all a very happy and blessed new year. Thank you to all who support the Kurds as they defend the rest of the world against the evil disease known as ISIS. I would especially like to wish all of our Kurdish friends, brothers and sisters a very special happy new year. Many of us can never know the conditions you faced as you fought to keep your own lands from the chains that ISIS and other powers wanted to keep you in. In fighting for your own lands, you have not only fought for all humanity, but you also inspired many throughout the world, and given us hope that good can triumph over evil. Not only have you shown the world that you are true warriors who do not seek to conquer other lands, but only to defend and claim that land which is yours to begin with, but you have also shown the world that you do have a significant role to play in bringing stability to an unstable region. Kurdish warriors in all regions have faced oppression and persecution from all the governments in the lands where they reside. Additionally, the Kurds have successfully fought to keep their own land, their own culture and identity in the face of overwhelming odds. The Kurds have proved they cannot be defeated. Many dictators and terrorists have tried to destroy the Kurds. In spite of their attempts, Kurdistan is alive and well in the hearts of all Kurds and those who support them. Many of those who have tried to destroy the Kurds, such as Saddam Hussein are dead and gone; others such as Daesh are on the verge of extinction, and though Erdogan is trying to destroy the Kurds, but he will never prevail, just as many before him have tried and failed. You truly do fight for all of humanity, and on behalf of the members of this group, I want to thank you. For the Kurds, especially those in Rojava, the past year has been one of victories and defeats as they face an ongoing war against Daesh and attacks from Turkey. The Kurds in Rojava have almost cleansed the region of Daesh fighters, but it did not come without a heavy price. Many thousands of Kurdish and foreign fighters who joined the Kurdish YPG/YPJ have paid the ultimate price in liberating ISIS from the region, while at the same time defending themselves from attacks by neighboring Turkey. We are forever grateful for, and indebted to, the brave Kurdish fighters and those from around the world who have joined their ranks to help eliminate Daesh and stand up for humanity. Kurdistan is alive and well in the hearts of all Kurds, not just in the Middle East, but also throughout the world. It is also alive in the hearts of all those who support the Kurds and it is our sincere prayer and New Year’s wish for all Kurds that there is finally victory over those who want to destroy you, and deny you that, which is rightfully yours to begin with. It is also our prayer for the Kurds this New Year that god heals all the pain that has come from this past year, and grant you your own, strong, independent and united Kurdistan. -SRW-
